Pet Portraits

"An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language."
-Martin Buber-
Anyone that has had the privilege to know the kindness, compassion and love of their cherished pet knows how much of a family member they really are. Many of us that have these beautiful relationships with our pets know that capturing the spirit of our beloved pets in a portrait can help them stay with us forever! As a lifetime animal lover myself, I find all animals endearing and love trying to capture their character artistically. The hours spent studying every detail during a portrait commission leaves me with a loving bond between the humans and animals that share their lives together. I can paint your dogs, cats, horses and other fury friends of all kinds! Look through my gallery photos for more examples of my portrait work!

Mediums, Sizes and Pricing...
Watercolor Portraits : Watercolor paints lend themselves to a more fluid artistic expression. While many may have the impression this fluid and transparent nature of the medium is less likely to be detailed they are actually with skill and experience very controllable. I am able to build up many layers of color ultimately creating a sensitive, soft yet detailed rendition of your pet. This medium is one of my most requested!
Pricing is based on a one pet per painting. If multiple pets are to be included in portrait add $30.00 per animal.

8 1/2" x 12" on Cold Press Watercolor Paper - $120.00
12" x 14" on Cold Press Watercolor Paper - $160.00
16" x 20" on Cold Press Watercolor Paper - $200.00
Acrylic Portraits : If you are wanting your portrait on canvas an acrylic portrait is a great option! I use gallery wrapped pre-stretched canvases and coat them with 3 additional layers of priming gesso for a smooth starting surface. These canvases have a 1 1/2" depth and are perfect for traditional frames, floating frames or no frame at all! Your painting will come with finished edges to match the motif of the painting and a finished sealed back.

Oil Portraits : Oil paints are a traditional medium of choice for centuries of painters! These paints have a heavier body, creamier quality over acrylic paints and lend themselves to being highly blend-able. These paints require more time to cure and may require additional processing time outside of the 3-5 week turnaround estimate. I use gallery wrapped pre-stretched canvases and coat them with 3 additional layers of priming gesso for a smooth starting surface. These canvases have a 1 1/2" depth and are perfect for traditional frames, floating frames and no frame at all! Your painting will come with finished edges to match the painting motif and a finished sealed back.
